A new set photo from Thor: Love and Thunder has potentially revealed the appearance of two characters from the Thor comic mythos in the film.
A new set photo from Thor: Love and Thunder seemingly reveals that an element from the comic mythos will make it into the God of Thunder’s latest film.
The Thor: Love and Thunder News account on Twitter posted pictures from the set of Love and Thunder that feature Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the God of Thunder. Hemsworth is also shown side-by-side with a massive goat puppet meant to resemble the Asgardian goats Toothgrinder and Toothgnasher.
In Norse mythology, Toothgrinder and Toothgnasher are the goats who pull Thor’s chariot and are also known to consume flesh. They first appeared in Marvel Comics canon in Thor #339 and have appeared periodically — particularly during Jason Aaron’s Thor run. Director Taika Waititi previously said that Aaron’s run inspired the story for Love and Thunder, with Jane Foster set to become Thor and Gorr the God Butcher acting as the main villain.
More set photos from the film have surfaced online, including Thor sporting a new costume and standing side-by-side with the members of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillen as Nebula and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The film arrives in theaters May 6, 2022.
