OnePlus is gearing up to finally launch its much-awaited smartwatch in 2021, the company’s CEO Pete Lau announced on Twitter.
“Many of you said you wanted a watch, and as you might have heard over the weekend—we’re making one, to be released early next year. Wishes do come true,” said Lau.
The idea of launching a wearable is not new, few years back OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei shared sketches of a circular smartwatch design, however; at that time the company decided to focus on smartphone production and halted its plan to launch any non-phone projects, reports Engadget.
At present, there is no information available as to what the wearable will look like or the features it will be equipped with. Moreover, 9to5Google notes that it also unclear whether the smartwatch will run Google’s Wear OS or not.
In recent years OnePlus has expanded into the electronic market, apart from launching high-end smartphones the company also produces headphones, smart TVs, and soon it’ll be launching a smartwatch.
