Cobra Kai’s third season finds Chozen ready to deliver revenge on Daniel for their old rivalry, but it’s not in the form of a lethal blow.
WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Season 3 of Cobra Kai, streaming now on Netflix.
In the Karate Kid franchise, Chozen is one of the most fearsome villains. The second film had him beating Daniel mercilessly when Mr. Miyagi took the young American to Okinawa to train and understand more about his culture. Daniel would prevail in the bloody finale, but fans were now curious about how Chozen would be with Daniel decades later in Cobra Kai.
Admittedly, their reunion doesn’t go well for Daniel because they battle to settle their rivalry once and for all. However, while Season 3 has Chozen winning, his revenge isn’t the lethal blow some thought was coming.

Daniel’s tentative about meeting up with Chozen, but Kumiko sets it up as she wants both men to let go of the past. Their love triangle is in her rear-view and she hopes it’ll be the same for them. But guys will be guys, and as Daniel realizes Chozen has more of Miyagi’s secrets in his own dojo, he’s hoping a sparring session would get Chozen to share them with him.
But Daniel is blindsided by Chozen’s arsenal, which includes paralyzing pressure points — another secret Miyagi-Do held dear. However, as Daniel drops to his knees, immobile and scared, Chozen decides to pays tribute to Daniel in comedic fashion.
Chozen honks Daniel’s nose and breaks out into laughter. It’s a perfect moment because this is the same thing Daniel did to Chozen when he gave him the option to live or die. Chozen, a hot-headed teen embarrassed in front of his people, chose death, but Daniel honked his nose and left him on the ground barely conscious. Daniel didn’t care how Chozen broke his own clan’s rules and tried to kill him and Kumiko — he knew violence was never going to be the answer.
It’s humorous seeing Chozen reacting like this as his character switches from stern to goofy, showing he’s evolved over the years. In fact, he’s a jolly teacher, embracing what Miyagi taught, and in so doing, he’s carrying on the family’s legacy. It’s also a fun reminder of what Miyagi did when he beat Kreese, who tried to show fight in front of Daniel and Johnny. It’s a lesson that Daniel and Johnny remember to this day, and clearly, Chozen learned from it, too, waiting to strike and playfully humiliate Daniel at the right time.
Cobra Kai stars William Zabka, Ralph Macchio, Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Peyton List and Martin Kove. All three seasons are available to stream now on Netflix.
