5th Thiago, 2nd Salah: Liverpool unveil top 10 shirt sales for 20/21

Liverpool put out a list of their top 10 shirt sales for the 2020/21 season on Friday. Two new signings feature but who came out no.1?

Who do fans want on the back of their Liverpool shirt most of all? We’ve got a definitive answer.

Liverpool revealed their top 10 shirt sales for the season, featuring all the names you’d expect. The Reds, unsurprisingly, had two major signings break into the list, too.

So here’s the list, as revealed by Liverpool.com:

10. Alisson Becker
9. Andy Robertson
8. Trent Alexander-Arnold
7. Diogo Jota
6. Roberto Firmino
5. Thiago
4. Jordan Henderson
3. Sadio Mane
2. Mohamed Salah
1. Virgil van Dijk

What RTK has to say

So it appears that Van Dijk is the most popular player at Liverpool – at least, to people buying a Liverpool shirt.

It’s quite remarkable that he’s maintained that position despite missing most of the season through injury, in fact. We’d assume that affects things, anyway.

One thing that really stands out, though, is how close this is to Liverpool’s preferred XI – something we’ve never actually seen.

You’d make room for Fabinho, perhaps swapping out Jota, and an extra centre-half makes up the XI. But it really paints a picture of how defined the first-team is right now.

Not that Jurgen Klopp can get it on the pitch.

In fact, there’s a case to be made that you just need to add Fabinho here and you’ve got the XI. The Brazilian is suddenly an elite centre-half, after all.

Play 4-2-4 or 4-2-3-1 and you can get all of these players on the pitch.

What’s really interesting to us, though, is how this will look in a year. We expect Liverpool to undergo a revamp over the summer and that will include several new signings.

And, potentially, a new superstar coming into the side.

Will all of these 10 remain at Anfield in a year? We’d expect nine of them to – but don’t be surprised if there are one or two getting their names on shirts elsewhere.
